Top of the World Sale Blows to a Close

The Top of the World Jersey Sale was held in Madison, Wis., as the conclusion to the Jersey breed events at World Dairy Expo. Strong breezes kept the sale pavilion well ventilated, but the crowd filled the seats and watched the parade of cattle cross the auction ring.

The sale had 28 lots sell, including two choices and an embryo lot. The overall average was $2080. The 25 live Registered Jerseys averaged $2192.

The high selling lot is a proven show winner already this week, winning the Senior Yearling class in the International Jersey Show and also grabbing the Reserve Junior Champion banner for the Junior show. Lot 22, Wildweed Primero Lightning, was consigned by Michael and Megan Moede and Katie Ledvica of Algoma, Wis., and was purchased by Buster Goff of Hobbs, N.M., for $5200.

 

Next high seller was Woodmohr Be True, VG-88% from Woodmohr Jerseys, Bloomer, Wis. She sold to Starwischer Jerseys, Ethan Starkey, Mechanicsburg, Ohio, for $4100.

 

Close on “Be True’s” heels was the 10th place Jr. 3-year-old of the 2018 International Jersey Show, Ratliff Premier Demi, E-90%. From Ron and Christy Ratliff, Garnett, Ks., this young cow sold to Misty Meadow Dairy in Tillamook, Ore., for $4000.

Top of the World Sale Catalog – ONLINE

The Top of the World Jersey Sale will be held in Madison, Wis., on Wednesday, October 3, at 4:00 p.m. (CDT), as part of the World Dairy Expo Jersey breed activities. The catalog features consignments from throughout the nation, and includes choices and embryo packages. Over 30 live Jerseys have common names in their pedigrees such as “Veronica” and “Kookie”, “Venus” and “Willie May.”

Some consignments have genomic opportunity, while others have already made a name for themselves in the show ring this summer. Ages range from July, 2018 to a mature Excellent cow with several generations of VG and EX backing her pedigree.

Southeast Jersey Invitational Sale Concludes

The Southeast Jersey Invitational Sale was held in Chester, S.C., on Monday, September 10. Hosted by Sunny Day Farm and Her-Man Jerseys, 131 head of Registered Jerseys went through the ring for an average of $1039. Cattle ranged in age from young milk cows to a 10 day old calf.

Steve Rowley of Mississippi invested in two of the top-selling lots of the sale. Lot 3, JX LYLESTANLEY VICEROY HARLEY 2817 {5}-ET sold for $2600. The February 2018 calf has a GJPI of 165 with several VG and EX dams to back her. She was consigned to the Southeast Jersey Invitational Sale by Lylestanley Trace, LLC, Fl.

Next high selling lot was Lot 169 WILL DO CHROME HARMONY from Ettinger Jerseys, S.C.  She sold for $2300, carrying a deep family line of VG and EX dams who also do well in production.

Also selling at the $2000 mark was Lot 4, WILL DO BARNABAS HOOP (East Glen Jerseys, SC) and Lot 13, LYLESTANLEY FIZZ JOLENE 2437, (Hobbs Lutz, SC) from Ettinger Jerseys and Lylestanly Trace, LLC, respectively.
