The 61st National Heifer Sale was held Thursday evening as part of the AJCA – NAJ Annual Meetings and 150th Anniversary celebration. Scenic Valley Farm, West Salem, Ohio, was the setting for the event. Each heifer going through the ring contributes 10% of their sale to the National Jersey Youth Fund.
The 2018 edition of National Heifer Sale saw 41 Lots of choices, embryos and live heifers go through the auction block, with an average of $7190.
The top two high selling lots broke records for high selling Jerseys in this sale!
The high seller was Lot 2, JX Pine-Tree Disco Paris 1696 {5}-ET, from Matthew Steiner and Pine-Tree Dairy, Marshallville, OH. Lively bidding from a packed crowd and an active internet pushed the heifer’s value to $67,500. She was successfully purchased by ABS Global, DeForest, Wis.

The second high selling lot was a choice from Faria Brothers Dairies in Dumas, Tx. Again, lively bidding pushed the choice of three heifers to $51,000, with Lot H, JX Faria Brothers Usainbolt Jamaica {4}, being the selected heifer. ST Genetics, Navasota, Tx, Â was the winning bidder on this valuable heifer.

Lot 12, JX Dupat Craze 18104 {5}-ET, was consigned to the National Heifer Sale by Wickstrom Jersey Farms Inc., Hilmar, Ca. She was the 3rd high selling lot of the night, going to ST Genetics for $18,200.
