Dixie Invitational Sale Concludes

HOT. The weather and crowd in Newberry, S.C., were hot at the Dixie Invitational Sale today. But the Southeast breeders put together a great selection of cattle for bidding, the buyers were appreciative! A total of 190 head sold, both on site and in TN, for an average of $1,508.81.

The top-selling lot was #88, a milk cow. Piedmont Goose Bell {3} was offered in the sale by Corey Lutz, Lincolnton, N.C., and was purchased for $2,525 by Vantress Jerseys in Xenia, Ohio.

The second top lot was #1, a bred heifer. Will Do Chronicle Hayden{4} sold for $2,125. Consigned by Ed & Cheryl Ettinger, Kinards, S.C., she also makes her way to Ohio, to J. William & Rachel Hodge.

Carlyle Farms, Wayne, Ohio was the volume buyer of the day with 85 head, including head in groups sold online.

In total, 13 buyers from eight different states bought today.

A great big thank you to the buyers and bidders, both in the crowd and online. We also appreciate the consignors who put their cattle in the Dixie Invitational.

Friday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. is sale kick-off time for the Dixie Invitational Sale in Newberry, S.C. Bush River Jerseys have been a gracious host for this event for many years. The sale will also be broadcast for LIVE Bidding on JerseyAuctionLive.com.

The sale features 127 head of  Registered Jersey breeders from around the Southeast, broke down into 47 milk cows, 15 dry cows, 42 3rd trimester heifers, 18 2nd trimester heifers, 2 1st trimester heifers, 3 open or very short-bred heifers.

The heifers and dry cows are featured in this VIDEO. Pictures of more consignments will be available later in the day.

The milking herd will be filmed in the early afternoon, and their video and consignment pictures will be available at that time.

A select group of milk cows will be coming to the sale from the Henry Anderson herd. Their information can be found on the Dixie Invitational FLY SHEETS. The Dixie Invitational Sale will be held in Newberry, SC, at Bush River Jerseys. Friday morning, September 9, at 11:00 am, Jerseys from around the southeast will begin entering the sale ring. The sale will also be broadcast for Live Bidding on JerseyAuctionLive.com.

Some consignments are selling as virtual group lots on the online sale host site, JerseyBid.com. They are currently housed in Tennessee.

A group of 12 bred heifers are available, none of which are Official Calfhood Vaccinates (OCV), which does not allow for trucking west of the Rockies. The group can be viewed on this VIDEO. The heifers are 2014, 2015 birth dates and are due in November and December.

Multiple groups of bred heifers WITH OCV designations are also selling via the online sale site. The entire group can be viewed on this VIDEO.  Also 2014, 2015 aged heifers, these 5 groups range in due dates between November and January.

Bidding on these lots is a per head price and their minimum bid MUST be met BEFORE 10:00 am on Friday to move to the live sale for continued bidding action.
