HOT. The weather and crowd in Newberry, S.C., were hot at the Dixie Invitational Sale today. But the Southeast breeders put together a great selection of cattle for bidding, the buyers were appreciative! A total of 190 head sold, both on site and in TN, for an average of $1,508.81.
The top-selling lot was #88, a milk cow. Piedmont Goose Bell {3} was offered in the sale by Corey Lutz, Lincolnton, N.C., and was purchased for $2,525 by Vantress Jerseys in Xenia, Ohio.
The second top lot was #1, a bred heifer. Will Do Chronicle Hayden{4} sold for $2,125. Consigned by Ed & Cheryl Ettinger, Kinards, S.C., she also makes her way to Ohio, to J. William & Rachel Hodge.
Carlyle Farms, Wayne, Ohio was the volume buyer of the day with 85 head, including head in groups sold online.
In total, 13 buyers from eight different states bought today.
