Sorenson ReductionChris and Steve Sorenson and their families invite you to their farm in Pine River, Wis., on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, for their milking herd dispersal. The sale will begin at 11:00 a.m. (CDT).

They will be selling close to 90 milking cows, 15 third-trimester heifers, 4 bulls, and select members of the KEYLIME family.

Dairyland Protein Sale Concludes

The Dairyland Protein Sale was held today in Janesville, WI. This year’s sale featured the complete dispersal of the RNS Jersey herd. It was a strong day for the Jersey.

A total of 122 lots, including semen, averaged $1813.73. Cows averaged over $2100 and bred heifers averaged over $2300.

The College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO, purchased the top-selling lot of the day for $3000. Lot 16 – Dairyman Miles 2316 is due in November to “Mackenzie.” She was consigned by Hoard’s Dairyman, WI.

The second high selling lot was sold for $2900 and also was from Hoard’s Dairyman Farm. Dairyman Jupiter 2317, Lot 14, due soon to sexed “Lincoln,” was purchased by Jim DeLange, Elkhorn, WI.

A thanks to all the consignors, including RNS Jersey Dairy, for all their quality consignments. We appreciate all the buyers and bidders at the sale today.

Late Start, Lively Crowd at the Top of the World Jersey Sale

TOW Dairyland BannerThe Top of the World Jersey Sale was held Tuesday evening, September 29, as part of the World Dairy Expo. Waiting for a start time until after Judge Heath placed the quality heifer line-up for the International Jersey Show, the crowd piled into the Estrumate Sale Pavilion.

With lively bidding from the crowd and online, 23 lots of live cattle, embryos, choices and semen sold for an average of $3,093.91 and a gross of $71,160.

Top Selling lot of the night was Lot 24 – Ratliff Action Anita, VG-88%. She is a granddaughter of Ratilff Price Alicia, E-95%, 3x National Grand Champion. Consigned by Ron and Christy Ratliff, KS, “Anita” sold to Ellie McKissick, PA, for $7,400.

Second high selling lot of the Top of the World Sale was the last heifer in the ring, Lot 21 – Mead-Manor Tequila Pryia. Due in a few weeks, she fetched a final price of $6,400 and was purchased by Ron and Christy Ratliff, KS. She was consigned by Mike Moede, Wis.

Holding the 3rd top selling lot status was Lot 16 – Covinton/Steinridge Babybelle 2-ET. She was consigned by Covington Jerseys and Jason Steinlage, IA and was purchased by Pat Gourley, OR for $6,100.

***PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR STATE’S OFFICAL CALFHOOD VACCINATION (OCV) REQUIREMENTS. If your state requires an OCV, you cannot buy an animal who does not have the OCV shield in her ear, unless she is young enough to still receive the vaccination.***
