Dixie Invitational Sale Concludes

Dixie Banner

The Dixie Invitational weather didn’t disappoint. It was another hot and humid day in Newberry, S.C. at Bush River Jerseys, the host of the Dixie Invitational Sale again this year. The cattle were good and the bidding was fast and furious from under the tent and from on JerseyAuctionLive.com.

A total of 110 lots sold today, for an average of $1835.23 and a gross of $201,875.
A newborn heifer from Lot 27 and 3 embryos were last-minute additions to the sale. The embryos were from Dutch Hollow Charlemagne (7JE1376), GJPI +272 and out of Barkley Kate, E-92%. The embryos went to Eastglen Farms, S.C., for $1800 ($600 each) and were consigned by Bradley and Carla Taylor, Miss. and Cedarcrest Farms, Ala.

Frank, Marilyn and Glen Easter purchased the high selling heifer of the Dixie Invitational, consigned by Cedarcrest Farm. George Rankin was on hand to represent his family farm, and Jason Robinson, JMS manager congratulates the group.

The internet bidders and buyers were an influence on the sale, with 83 of 110 lots carrying bids from the internet, 30 lots selling to internet buyers and 34 holding contending bids. Carlyle Farms, Ohio, was the top internet buyer with 16 head.

A big thank you to the consignors, bidders and buyers at today’s sale. Also thanks to the Bush River Jersey crew for allowing JMS to have the Dixie Invitational in Newberry, S.C. again this year.

See everyone at the Mid-Atlantic Fall Jersey Classic on September 19 at Craig Rhein’s farm in Pine Grove, PA. The catalog is online and bidding will also be available online at www.jerseyauctionlive.com.
