The National Heifer Sale traditionally supports the National Jersey Youth fund, for events such as Jersey Youth Academy, Junior All American and several other opportunities.
Though the generosity of the consignors, bidders and buyers, the National Jersey Youth fund generated $40,795! The sale itself, on 41 head, averaged $4,780.
Top Selling Lot in the 2016 National Heifer Sale is Lot 25 – Dupat Machete 14706, consigned by Wickstrom Bros. and purchased for $15,700 by Sexing Technologies.Second High Seller in the 59th National Heifer Sale was Lot 6 – Hillview Mackenzie Key-Linda-ET from Chris Sorenson. She was purchased by Alta Genetics for $15,500

Over 40 cataloged lots of genomic tested heifers and choices will be available to support Jersey youth as part of the 59th Annual National Heifer Sale in San Diego, Calif. The sale, all virtual, will be held on July 2, 2016, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (PDT). The sale will also be broadcast on JerseyAuctionLive.com for LIVE viewing and bidding of the lots.
The weather changed from a hot week for the cows and crew, to a beautiful day, with low humidity, gentle breezes, and much Jersey breeder fellowship in Greenwich, N.Y.
A standing room only crowd filled the JMS tent at the Seacord Farm Dispersal to take home a part of the herd Richard and Brian Seacord have built. Internet bidders from all around the U.S. also watched the sale with hope of being the lucky buyer on a good cow family member, a deep pedigree, or the next show ring stopper!
The cattle themselves averaged $1,918.45 on 103 head and the sale averaged $1,611.72 with the semen added into the tally, on 125 total lots.
Lot 643, a favorite of many, was the high selling individual of the day. Lyn and Peter Vail were the buyers of this E-91% “Action” daughter who sold for $8500.Lot 562 was second high selling cow of the dispersal, going to Pa., for $6400. Sam, Angela and George Colpetzer now own this matriarch show cow
Buyers from KY, ME, MD NE, NH, NY, OH, Ontario, CAN, PA, SC, VT, WI, and WV and bid in the crowd, phone, and internet on cattle and semen.
Volume buyers of the day were Jason Nagel and Cymberly Carlson, N.Y. and Sam, Angela, & George Colpetzer, Pa.

Heifers are halter broke for the Seacord Farm Dispersal, so show projects are halfway started! Young stock are available from springing heifers down to a June 1 calf! Add pedigree, deep cow families, type and production to your show string, your flush program or to your barn. They can do it all! This is a great looking group of heifers, no matter the age!
