Dairyland Protein Sale Wrap-up **Edited

TOW Dairyland Banner

The Dairyland Protein Sale concluded a great week in Wisconsin, highlighting the Jersey breed and all she has too offer. Breeders enjoyed a great International Jersey Show, where the grand champion Jersey was later named SUPREME of all the breeds. The Top of the World Sale had one of its best years on cattle quality and sale average. And, the Dairyland Protein Sale ended strong also.

The sale averaged $1752.50 on 160 head of milk cows, bred and open heifers, and a newborn.

In a previous post version, we incorrectly noted that Kyle Burk, Mo., purchased the high selling lot of the sale, Lot 4. Consigned by Gerald Laufenberg, Wis., the milking “Irwin” daughter sold for $2275 and was the SECOND TOP SELLING Jersey of the sale.

The TOP SELLING LOT at the Dairyland Protein Sale was actually Hillview Chili Lea, Lot 185, from Chris Sorenson, Wis. She was purchased for $2,525 by Rodney Cooley of Oklahoma.

The volume buyer of the Dairyland sale was Jenny Toberman, Prairie Du Chien, Wis., with 48 head. Including Jenny, there were 13 different buyers from four different states, including Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

Thank you to the consignors for putting in great quality cattle. Bidders and buyers, thank you for your participation in the 2016 Dairyland Protein Sale and best wishes on your new Registered Jerseys!
