The Northeast Jersey Classic & Breeders Sale was held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland, Vt. Standing room only crowds with competitive bidding all around helped 267 head bring an average of $1,644.76.
The sale was slit into a tie-up showcase of genetics and the loose housing of the greater volume of the heifers consigned.
The top seller was Lot 1, Billings Minister Martina, VG-88%. Selling dry and Due to “Premier” in early June, she was consigned by Billings Farm & Museum, Woodstock, Vt. Making the successful last bid for $4,100 was John Miller, Leeds, Maine.

The high volume buyer of the day was Daniel Stoltzfus, Honey Brook, Pa. He purchased 89 heifers with an average price of $1,514.

The Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale can be summed up as a success. With a change of venue, a change of weekends, a hopeful change of weather and a change of format, great fellowship and cattle prices closed this weekend with a bang.
A total of 229 head went though two rings today for a total sale average of $1,577.31.
Today’s events started with 29 lot being lead through ring 1, with an average of $3,236. Eight lots sold for over $3,000, with the top two lots highlighted below.
LOT 1 – PEARLMONT HILARIO IRIS – Top Selling Lot of the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale. She sold to Sexing Techologies, WI for $10,500 and was consigned by William Pearl and Pearlmont Farm in VT.LOT 4 – DUTCH HOLLOW SAMSON MIKI – Second High Seller of the day Sold for $7,000 to Gerald and Diane Colvin of VT and was consigned by Dutch Hollow Farm, the Chittenden Family, NY
The commercial group of cattle moved swiftly though the ring, selling to buyers from CT, ME, MN, MO, NH, NY, OH, PA, VT, WA, and WI. Creek Bottom Farm was the high volume buyer of the day with a total of 70 head making the trip to PA. Jeff Adams, WA followed closely in the volume department with 58 head.

Also a thank you to all the Vermont and New England Jersey youth who helped lead the cattle through the tie-up portion of the sale.
The Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale is in Rutland, VT this year, and is adopting a new format into the events this year. About 30 head of milk cows, genomic heifers, bred heifers, project calves, and show prospects are available, in addition to the 225 head of quality heifers selling in a commercial setting.

We are thinking spring at the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale this week – thinking it, because feeling like spring hasn’t been in the weather just yet!
In a new location with a new sale format, the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale is stationed in Rutland, VT and features a select group of tie-up heifers and cows as a showcase, with close to 200 head of all aged heifers selling in the commercial format.

There are roughly 43 2nd Trimester and 34 3rd Trimester heifers to go through the ring on Saturday. Close to 14 1st Trimester heifers and about 20 “TCTC” heifers will sell on Saturday.Breeding age heifers are part of this video (click on the picture). The 109 or so Open heifers are visually divided into the breeding age group and the younger group, featured on a seperate video.The younger open heifers (click on the picture for the video) are small in size, but mighty in number. Grouped with the older open heifers, the groups number around 109 strong.
