TOW Dairyland BannerAs the day progresses toward sale time, this blog post will be updated with pictures and videos of consignments from the Top of the World Sale. The sale will begin at 7:00 p.m. (CDT) -OR- 1/2 hour after the heifer show, whichever comes later.

***PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR STATE’S OFFICAL CALFHOOD VACCINATION (OCV) REQUIREMENTS. If your state requires an OCV, you cannot buy an animal who does not have the OCV shield in her ear, unless she is young enough to still receive the vaccination.***

The sale order will be posted as soon as it is known and there are not many updates, except for consignments who were unable to sell for one reason or another.

Lots 20, 24, and 26 – all Jr. 2-year-olds – are entered to show tomorrow. Please tell the sale clerk if you are going to show them if you purchase them. JMS is not responsible for getting any consignments ready for the show ring.

Sorenson ReductionThe Chris and Steve Sorenson Families invite you to their farm on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8. Starting at 11:00 a.m. (CDT), they are dispersing their milking herd and springing heifers.

The catalog is now online for your viewing, downloading and printing pleasure.

The Sorenson family has built a production based herd with genomics and polled genetics playing a part in the development of some families. Their most popular family, the “Keylime-P” family, will have a select number of members offered on the sale. Males are included in this offering.

Take a look through the catalog to add genomics, polled genetics, production and good type to your herd on October 8!

Mid-Atlantic Fall Jersey Classic Concludes

Mid-Atlantic BannerThe Mid-Atlantic Fall Jersey Classic Sale kicked off the Jersey Marketing Service fall sale season with a successful 290 head sale in Pine Grove, Pa. Craig Rhein and family hosted the sale that averaged $1723.79.

Milk cows, bred and open heifers were available from consignors in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region of the states. Twenty-one different buyers from nine states purchased today. Gutman Bros., Pa., were the volume buyer, with 134 head.

The high selling lot of the day was 223 – Oomsdale Galen Dimsion Gloss{4}. Consigned by Michael Ooms, Valatie, N.Y., this 2-year-old calved in August and was purchased by Mole Hill Dairy LLC in Dayton, Va., for $4,300 after a lively round of bidding.

Mole Hill Dairy and Michael Ooms also connected for the second high selling lot of the day. Lot 228 – Oomsdale Geena Awesome Gentle{5}-ET sold for $3,100. She is a 5-month pregnant heifer with multiple generations of Excellent dams.
