E.V. Smith Dairy Dispersal Summary

Auburn

The E.V. Smith Dairy Complete Dispersal was held in sweltering Shorter, AL at the farm today, June 7. They tell us that this is nothing compared to later in the summer, but it is safe to say that the heat is a shock to most of us that endured a bitter cold winter!

Along with the gnats, the crowd filled the JMS tent and bidding was steady from all corners and from the internet.

The complete dispersal sold 121 head and averaged $1,274.17 with a gross of $154,175. Two internet bidders participated, from California and Nebraska. Buyers participated from AL, CA, GA, LA, MS, & TX.

Adrie Vanderjagt, Texas, was the volume buyer with 31 head of milk cows, dry cows and bred heifers. He was also the buyer of the top three selling lots of cattle for the day. Lot 1138 is a first calf “TBone” daughter with a projected m.e. of 14,568-806-564 at 2-1. She is bred to “Eclipes-P” and due in December. She sold for $2,450.

Jersey Support to Fire Victims

Patricia_Reese
Patricia Stiles and Reese Burdette

The Derek Page family, Missouri, has generously donated one of their heifers from their Page-Crest Dispersal to help support Reese Burdette and Patricia Stiles and their family. The ladies continue their recovery from injuries sustained in a house fire. Both Reese and Patricia have had progress in their recovery, but have a long road of surgeries and monitoring ahead.

All proceeds from Page-Crest Impression 887-ET will be given to the family, once again proving that the dairy industry has people with some of the biggest hearts, strongest determination, and closest community!
