Wisconsin State Jersey Sale Wrap-up

For the second consecutive year, the Wisconsin State Sale was held as an online only sale, hosted on Jersey Bid.com. And to great success. All of the 25 lots of open and bred heifers, cows, embryos and Badger Treasure Sale calves sold for an average of $2087.50. A total of 30 head of live cattle sold for an average of $2,171 and a total of 22 embryos sold for an average of $264 per embryo.

 Lot 2 – Dodan LH Dignitary Tally-ET was the top-selling lot of the day. The consignment from D & D Jerseys and Lloyd Heinz in Newton, WI sold for $5,050 to Josiah Heagy, Titusville, PA. “Tally” is due in August to “Marvel” and the resulting calf has interest from a number of AI companies.

Second Top Seller was Lot 3 – Heinz Charnesa Melinda 8381. Consigned by Lloyd Heinz, Shawano, WI this May 2013 heifer had many AI companies interested in talking to the new owner. Josiah Heagy, PA was the buyer of this lot also, for $3,450.

Third high lot of the sale  was Lot 1, consigned by Orthridge Farms and Dan Bauer, Lancaster, WI. Orthridge-DB Zuma Rutabaga was fresh in March and sold to Jason Cast, Beaver Crossing, NE for $3,075.

The highest selling group lot, and fourth high overall, was a group of 5 springing heifers from David Allen, Reedsburg, WI. The Wheeler Family, Jackson, ID was the successful buyer, with the group selling for $3,000 per heifer.

The Wisconsin State Sale will close bidding TODAY at 1:30 p.m. Central Time.

A great selection of Open Heifers, Bred Heifers, Milk Cows, Embryos, Genomics, Pedigrees and Cow Families fill this years online sale with quality. There are also four Badger Treasure Sale Calves, for junior members to add to their herds.

Check out the sale online, where genomic numbers are updated on the performance pedigrees as of this morning. The sale catalog is available online also, but without the updates.

The Wisconsin State Sale is currently open online, with bidding to close at 1:30 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Cows, bred heifers, open heifers, genomics, show prospects, embryos and Badger Treasure Sale calves are all available. Groups and individuals are available to fill however many stalls you have available!

All pedigrees are online, within the Jersey Bid program. Genomic information will update on those pedigrees on Tuesday morning, so keep your eye’s peeled! A full catalog can also be downloaded from http://jms.usjersey.com/WisconsinStateSale.

New York Spring Sale

The New York Next Generation Sale is also open for bidding online. The sale will have two parts, the online sale and the live sale.

The online sale, currently open for bidding on Jersey Bid, features embryos, cows, bred heifers, and open heifers. There are groups of cattle and individual lots available. Any lots with bids at 4:30 p.m. EST on Friday, May 9, 2014 will be able to be moved to the live sale for final bidding. All those without bids will be considered a no-sale.

Live cattle will be moving to the Steuben County Fairgrounds in Bath, NY starting on Tuesday. Watch for more from the sale at that time.

With the audience attending the events at the fairgrounds, we will also be offering bidding to interested bidders who cannot make the trip with the Jersey Auction Live broadcast program.

The Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale can be summed up as a success. With a change of venue, a change of weekends, a hopeful change of weather and a change of format, great fellowship and cattle prices closed this weekend with a bang.

A total of 229 head went though two rings today for a total sale average of $1,577.31.

Today’s events started with 29 lot being lead through ring 1, with an average of $3,236. Eight lots sold for over $3,000, with the top two lots highlighted below.

LOT 1 - PEARLMONT HILARIO IRIS - Top Selling Lot of the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale. She sold to Sexing Techologies, WI for $10,500 and was consigned by William Pearl and Pearlmont Farm in VT.

The commercial group of cattle moved swiftly though the ring, selling to buyers from CT, ME, MN, MO, NH, NY, OH, PA, VT, WA, and WI. Creek Bottom Farm was the high volume buyer of the day with a total of 70 head making the trip to PA. Jeff Adams, WA followed closely  in the volume department with 58 head.

Also a thank you to all the Vermont and New England Jersey youth who helped lead the cattle through the tie-up portion of the sale.

Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeder’s Sale

Northeast Breeders SaleWe are thinking spring at the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale this week – thinking it, because feeling like spring hasn’t been in the weather just yet!

In a new location with a new sale format, the Northeast Jersey Classic and Breeders Sale is stationed in Rutland, VT and features a select group of tie-up heifers and cows as a showcase, with close to 200 head of all aged heifers selling in the commercial format.

The catalog can be found online to view, download and print.
