This week was busy with Jersey Marketing Service. We had two mid-west sales this week, in Iowa and Wisconsin!
Tuesday, May 12 marked the closing of the Wisconsin State Jersey Sale, hosted on Jersey Bid. The sale, featuring production, genomics, individuals and groups, cows and heifers. Bidding opened with the online sale host site, JerseyBid.com on May 4 with final bidding on Tuesday.
A total of 24 live head were purchased online, including four Badger Treasure calves for junior members. The average was $2,604, with buyers from Kansas, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The top selling lot was Lot 1 – Jessie James Nikon Trudy 8705-P, consigned by Jim & Jessica Engel of Kewaunee, Wis. The October polled, genomic tested heifer had Heartland Nathan Texas-ET as her 3rd dam. Heartland Jerseys out bid the competition to own the heifer at $2,700.

The Prairieland Production sale was held in West Union, Iowa, at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The 78 head of cows, bred heifers and breeding aged bulls focused on production based pedigrees with complimentary type.
Top selling lot of the sale was Lot 36 from Heidi & Brian Lantzky & Family, Hawkeye, Iowa. With the final bid at $2,950, Doug Fairbanks of Anamosa, Iowa was the final bidder.


Davis Family Dairies, Nicollet, Minn., was the volume buyer of the day, with 32 head of cows and bred heifers going for an average of $1,939.
Buyers were from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
