Busy Spring for JMS

It is going to be a busy next few weeks on the Jersey Marketing Service schedule. Public sales, online sales, and sales with a combination of the two…we have all ages and types of Registered Jerseys for sale. Look for production, type and genomics to all be represented in our sales held in April and May.

JMS will be assisting Tradition Auction Services, LLC at two sales in Tenn. this weekend with our JerseyAuctionLive.com online bidding and live broadcast.

Northeast Breeders SaleWith a change of name, venue and format, the Northeast Jersey Classic & Breeders Sale will be in Rutland, VT on May 3, 2014 beginning at 10:30 a.m. This sale will feature type, genomics and production.

WI State Sale BannerWe are still looking for consignments for the Wisconsin State Sale, held online for the second year. Individuals and pen lots, genomics, show type and production…the possiblities are endless. This sale will be hosted on Jersey Bid starting on April 28 and will close bidding on May 6, 2014.

New York Spring SaleAlso with a name, venue and format change is the New York Next Generation Sale, May 9 at 5:00 p.m. A portion of the cattle will be at the Bath, NY location of the Steuben County Fairgrounds, with the remaining cattle being sold by video on JerseyBid.com. All online cattle carrying a bid on May 9 will carry over into the live sale, also broadcast for bidding and viewing on JerseyAuctionLive.com.

Prairieland BannerIn its second year, we welcome the consignors and buyers of the Prairieland Production Sale in West Union, Iowa. We will be focusing on production for this sale, and stay tuned as consignments are still being compiled.

Ohio Classic BannerThe Ohio Spring Classic Sale is a great place to find show cattle, type, production and genomics. Held on May 26, 2014 – Memorial Day – we will be using JerseyBid.com and JerseyAuctionLIve.com online services for this sale in Sidney, OH.

The May Jersey Bid online auction will be May 19-27.

Ohio Spring Classic Sale Results

The Ohio Spring Classic Sale started the day’s auction festivities with the Online portion of the sale selling on Jersey Bid. The live auction followed, starting with the quick lively bidding for the top selling Lot 1 – a polled Critic-P March heifer that ranked 6th in the nation for Polled Heifer GJPI, 227. She was consigned by Leroy and Martha Sue Miller, Fredricksburg, OH and was purchased by River Valley Farm, Tremont, IL for $22,000. Second high selling lot was part of the online auction, Lot 101J. The First Choice Female sired by Hawarden Impuls Premier and out of Cascadia Iatola Puzzle sold to Desert Park Jerseys in Oregon for $9025 in the Jersey Bid / Ohio Spring Classic portion of the sale. The consigment was put in the sale by Craig Walton and Gene Iager, Pleasant Plain, OH. The third top selling individual lot was consigned by Jon Prokop, Middleburgh, NY and was purchased by Schendel Jersey Farm, TX for $6,250.

The overall sale average on 72 lots, including semen, embryos, choices and live lots, was $2,336.
