Kentucky National Jersey Sale Concludes

The Kentucky National Jersey Show and Sale concluded in Louisville, Ky., today with a total of 76 lots being sold for an average of $1,704. Live lots who were in Kentucky totaled 65, with nine head sold online in group lots, and one choice offering.

Top selling lot of the day was also the Junior Champion of the show, Lot 63 – Billings Joel Butternut-ET. This senior calf from Billings Farm and Museum, Woodstock, Vt., sold to Kelly Jo Manion of Scottsville, Ky., for $3900.

The second high lot was the Reserve Junior Champion – the Summer Yearling from John and Donna Greiwe and family, Sidney, Ohio. Lot 13 – DKG One In Million Jennie sold to Cymberly Carlson and Jason Nagel in Panama, N.Y., for $3,100.

The third high selling lot of the Kentucky National Jersey Sale was Lot 65, also from Billings Farm & Museum. She was Lot 65 – Billings Grove Bessie-ET and sold to Jacob Belton, Smyrna, Tenn., for $3,050.

Twelve different states consigned to the sale, with buyers representing 10 different states.

Two lots are online at JerseyBid.com for bidding prior to the sale. Cinnamon Ridge, the Maxwell Family, Donahue, Iowa, consigned bred heifers and breeding aged heifers to the online segment of the sale.

 Lot 100 (VIDEO) is a group of 4 bred heifers. They are all calfhood vaccinated, genomic tested and are bred to sexed semen and due in late September to late October, 2017.

Lot 200 (VIDEO) is a group of 5 yearling heifers. They are all calfhood vaccinated, genomic tested and are recently or will soon be one-year-old.

Buckeye Classic Jersey Sale – Wrap-up

The Buckeye Classic Jersey Sale sold 36 lots of heifers, cows and embryos, genomics, show type and great production from consignors in Ohio, Indiana, New York, and Tennessee. The overall sale average was $1600. Buyers ranged  from Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

 

The top-selling lot was Lot 16 – Virtuoso Eden, consigned by Jake Hershberger, Lynn Yocum and Myers Jersey Farm in Troy, Ohio. For $4100, Craig Dotson of Williamsburg, Ohio won the rights to take this calf home into his show string.

Lot 29 – TJ Classic Tequila Blossom, consigned to the sale by Joel & Greg Bourne and Tabitha Francis, Ansonia, Ohio, was the second high selling heifer of the event. Eddie Harris of Cleveland, Tenn., was the final bidder at $2950.

Lot 5 – Cowbell Redpath Cozy – consigned by Christine Sheesley Rozler, Potsdam, N.Y. was the third high seller. She was purchased by Ethan Starkey of Mechanicsburg, Ohio for $2850.
