For one week, beginning on Monday, May 19 and ending on May 26, a portion of the sale will be available online on the Jersey Bid online sale program. These lots can be bid on throughout the week, with bidding ending online at 10:30 a.m. on May 26. Any lots that have bids will then be moved to the live sale for final bidding. Any lots without bids will NOT be sold, and will be considered a “No-Sale.”
All online lots will be housed at their home locations unless other wise noted. Health testing will occur on any of the live lots in the online sale, after the buyer’s destination is known.

The Prairieland Production Sale was held today at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in West Union, Iowa. The sale consisted of mainly bred heifers and milk cows, with some shortbred and open heifers also available.
148 Lots, including a heifer and a bull half lots, averaged $1,882.97, with a gross of $278,680.
Davis Family Dairies, MN and Wheeler Dairy, ID were the volume buyers of the day, each with 25 head.
Wheeler Dairy was one of the four bidders who participated in the sale by bidding online with Jersey Auction Live.
Buyers were from Arkansas (winning the furthest traveled to the sale award!) Iowa, Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

There are two sections to this annual sale that has boasted show winners, genomic numbers, and great pedigrees in the past. Over 70 lots of great genetic potential will be housed at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Sidney, OH the week before the sale, selling at the fairgrounds on May 26, 2014.
Another group of 113 lots of semen, embryos, group lots of heifers, choices of heifers, individual heifers and bull calf with a great pedigree behind him will sell via internet marketing avenues. These lots will start their bidding on the Jersey Bid online sale program on Monday, May 19 and will open for bidding until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26. At that time, any lot carrying a bid will move into the live sale at the fairgrounds, beginning their bidding where the last bid left off online. Any lots NOT carrying a bid at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26 will be considered a “No-Sale.”
None of the online lots will be at the fairgrounds unless otherwise noted. They will all be housed at their home locations and will be health tested for movement only after the buyer is known.

The New York Next Generation Sale combined internet and live auction formats with a new location and a new time. Held on Friday, May 9, beginning at 5:00 p.m. After a tribute to Mr. George Wilson for his past time and energy as the sale chair and to Ralph and Alice Taylor for all they have contributed to Jersey youth and the Association.
30 lots of open and bred heifers sold for an average of $1,815. These 30 head were at the Steuben County Fairgrounds in Bath, NY for the week and walked through the ring this evening.
Topping the tie-up sale and the overall sale was Lot 4 from Underground Genetics in Pitcher, NY. UNDERGROUND JAN-MAMIE JAYNE-ET, born 3/4/2014, was sold to Sam, Angela and George Colpetzer of Greenville, PA for $6,000 after a great amount of bidding from the crowd. This “Reviresco” daughter has at least four Excellent dams behind her, and many family members who are Very Good or Excellent and with various show winnings.
LOT 4 – UNDERGROUND JAN-MAMIE JAYNE-ET Born 3/4/2014
Second high of the sale was Lot 28, also purchased by the Colpetzer family for $4,500. MERI-ACRES TEQUILA STACY was consigned by Peggy Bennett, Albion, NY. This April, 2102 heifer is due in late July, 2014 to Arethusa Jade Velocity-ET and is backed by Payneside breeding from Canada.
20 lots were sold by starting their bids online on the Jersey Bid program earlier in the week. Bidding on that program ended at 4:30 tonight, with the bidding in the live auction starting where the online auction left off.
An embryo package sold to Wakker Dairy, Kewauneee, WI for $300 per embryo. They were from Billings Hallmark Melanie and out of Hometown Incentive-ET and Bridon Remake Comerica-ET and were consigned by Billings Farm & Museum, Woodstock, VT
More bred heifers and open heifers sold as individuals in the online auction, but most were sold as group lots of open and bred heifers, as well as a group of cows. The highest selling group lot was a group of 5 bred heifers, due in June, and consigned by Hi-Land Farm, Wyoming, NY. Kenneth Briggs, Campbellsville, KY purchased this lot for $2,625 each.
Davis Family Dairies, Nicollet, MN was the volume buyer, purchasing 21 head.
The entire sale of 82 lots averaged $1727.44
