A small groups of Jersey cattle breeders in central Kansas came together for a warm, breezy, spring day in Hutchinson, before needing serious winter gear again the next morning! The Central Kansas Jersey Breeders Sale on Friday, April 13, saw 168 head, majority milk cows, go through the JMS sale ring, averaging $1,341.
The sale was hosted by the Merle Yoder Family and the tent was filled. Buyers came from nearby in Kansas and as far away as California. Colorado was represented on the buyer list as well. Volume buyers were from Oklahoma and Texas. There were 11 different buyers at this inaugural sale.
Golden Plain Jersey Farm, Merle Yoder, had the pleasure of selling the top selling lot of the sale. Lot 18 sold for $2125 to Paul Brown of OK.
